Book Review: The Kissing Room

I recently read Cheryl Anne Gardner's The Kissing Room, a novella of only 16K words. The Kissing Room is hardly a light, cheery romance for a Sunday afternoon; rather, it is a dark, disturbing story which threatens to repel the reader with its brutal honesty, while compelling him to read on for the resolution. Consider yourself warned-if you dare to sample the first page, make sure you're in a comfortable chair.
This fast-paced story alternates between what happens next and what happened before, and fluctuates between gentle, romantic, or bittersweet moments and truly ugly, stomach-churning scenes of violence and despair. Even the nastiest situations are not described graphically or in lengthy detail, however, but neither are they for the faint of heart.

All Time Top 10 Romantic Novels

There is a side of Paulo Coelho that is exotic, sexual, dark and daring. No married author would dare to write such things in their work that might talk about their sexual past or lustful fantasies that they might have experienced with a side of love in their golden days; Paulo Coelho has never been afraid of implementing such ideology in his books and novels. If we are discussing some of the best romantic novels of all time, he is number one on that list, even above Nora Roberts, Jodi Picoult, Danielle Steel and Kapiel Raaj. 11 minutes, one of Paulo Coelho's most intense works has also been one of his most desirable. Although the Alchemist has been his most popular work, the readers found a new delight in 11 minutes.
The story of this novel is about a girl name Maria who travels from Rio De Janeiro to Geneva in hope to find a better future for herself and her family. She uses prostitution to make the bucks she always dreamed of, while educating herself through book in library while also finding a soul-mate in an artist who wanted nothing but 11 minutes to orgasm.

Jason Hicks Second Chance Romance Review - Powerful and Easy What More Could You Want?

Jason Hicks Second Chance Romance is one of the more unique books that promises to help you to get your ex back. With powerful methods that some say border on mind control, Jason Hicks Second Chance Romance is said to be one of the few systems that you can use right away to successfully get your ex back. No fuss... no muss... no long months of "no contact" or weird self affirmation exercises to go through. It is a straight up, "learn how to take control of your relationship and get your ex back" kind of system.
One of the often overlooked aspects of Jason Hicks Second Chance Romance is how all encompassing this system is while still being simple. Other books might promise to help you to get your ex back, and yes they deliver on that promise, but that's basically where they leave you. Now you have your ex back but you're right back where you were when you broke up. Sure things might be ok for a while. But typically the newness wears off and within a few weeks to months the honeymoon phase wears off and you're right back where you were right before the breakup. And sadly many couples do wind up breaking up again. And you don't want to go through another breakup again, do you?

Comic Books - Nostalgic Links To Our Past

Comic books are one of the most popular forms of reading for many adults. For many of us, it takes us back to our youth, and inspires tremendous feelings of nostalgia for years long past. It's this nostalgia that creates the love of the comic book in so many people. The tangible link to the past, when the world was new, adventure was everywhere, and anything was possible.
Comic books, without a doubt, are an integral part of the American story. Actually, when it comes right down to it, they are as American as baseball and apple pie. Everyone has heard of Batman, Superman, Spider-Man, the X-Men, and the Fantastic Four. The list goes on and on. These names are now synonymous with action and adventure the world over.

5 Good Books To Read - Comic Books

1. Midnight Nation by J. M. Straczynski
To show my point, let's start with Midnight Nation, a dark and a bit religious comic book describing "the other world," a place where all forgotten and abandoned people and things go.
A police lieutenant David Grey starts to investigate what appears to be a flustering murder and ends up rather differently than he anticipated - trapped in a shadow world and faced with a challenge to fight for his own soul.
David receives a guide named Laurel, he eventually falls in love with her and this act alone will set him off of all his predecessors. After overcoming multiple tests, Grey resents the usual course of action offered by The Other Guy (the Devil) and sacrifices his own soul to prove that hope still exists.
Midnight Nation is an excellent comic book and you don't really need to be religious to enjoy it.

A Look at George Carlin's Book "3x Carlin - An Orgy of George"

This is the pinnacle of all that is George Carlin. You get three of his published works in one! Its a very easy read , great for when you have some down time to get a couple of chuckles in on a stressful day. This book is huge and has plenty of content that won't take much of a time investment. like I have mentioned in my review , you can pull it out when you have a free minute and read a little here and there. My favorite thing to do with this book is to flip to a random page , so you don't have to treat this as a "Book" in the traditional sense. Just a fun flip through to make your day.
I'm a huge George Carlin fan and I wanted to get some of his written work to enjoy, especially since he is no longer with us. I have seen all of his HBO specials and all of them made me think and laugh. The same rule applies with this book , I always pulled this book out when I had a free minute between classes in college or a ride home on the train. I highly recommend this to anyone that likes to ask the big questions like..."When your rub your eyes real hard do you see that checkerboard pattern? What is that?" (Hyperion. "Naplam & Silly Putty")

Help for the Harried Homeschooler

Are you harried? What is the definition of "harried" anyway? After looking it up in the dictionary, it reads, "troubled persistently especially by petty annoyances." So what can we surmise by this title? Are you a homeschooling parent who is dealing with petty annoyances? Things like, chaos, discipline problems, finding balance in your home school, sane socialization... So what can we do to fix these petty annoyances? Maybe one thing that could be a great benefit to us all is to learn to say one simple word...no.
We, as homeschooling mothers, have an actual ministry. The ministry of motherhood. As Shari, a mother who homeschools in Illinois, agrees. She says, "Once I grasped what God has called me to do, it made saying no a lot easier." Staying focused on her mission, "the ministry of motherhood and teaching," keeps her content with her life as a homeschooling mom.

Exploring America - History Curriculum For High School Homeschoolers

Finding a good history curriculum for high school was one of the greatest challenges I faced when I was being homeschooled. It seemed like most of the good history books stop at the Civil War or World War II. What about modern history? It's hard to find a history book from a Christian perspective about modern history. Have you run into this problem, too? This difficulty has been overcome with a high school history curriculum from Notgrass Company. Exploring America by Ray Notgrass is an amazing curriculum that is exciting as well as educational. It begins with Christopher Columbus and ends at the present time. Each day is broken up into short concise lessons.

The Kids' Book Club Book

School is nearly out, and parents everywhere are beginning to wonder what the heck to do with the summer looming before them. Here's an idea: Start a kids' book club. As it happens, I know just where to send you for information on how to do it. :)
Judy Gelman and Vicki Levy Krupp have taken the concept from their first book, "The Book Club Cookbook," and gone nuts with it in "The Kids' Book Club Book," creating what will probably always stand as the definitive book on organizing a kids' reading club. It covers the how-tos of starting a book club for children, ways to spice up meetings, and includes lists of suggested books for certain age groups.
Then they take these ideas and show you exactly what they're talking about, taking a suggested book and breaking it down for you. A timid book club organizer could take this book and work with it for a good chunk of time without having to come up with a single original idea. By the time he finished, he'd be a pro and wouldn't have any trouble continuing on his own.

The Top 5 Children's Books on the American Revolution

I love history! It is sad these days when children say they hate history, "It's boring". I believe it's because they get bogged down in trying to memorize dates and lose sight of the people and adventures that happened all throughout history.
History is exciting! If we begin teaching our children when they are young they will learn to appreciate the wonderful stories and the exciting adventures that happened in history. There were so many regular people who became heroes and so many time periods to learn about. In this article I am going to focus on the Revolutionary time period. There are many different ways to get young people interested in this time period, the people were on a quest to explore the new country they had come to and determine how they wanted this new country to be. The people found great courage, and laid a foundation for a great country to be formed.

Neil Gaiman's The Graveyard Book: That Foot on the Stairs!

''There was a hand in the darkness, and it held a knife... The man Jack paused on the landing. With his left hand he pulled a large white handkerchief from the pocket of his black coat, and with it he wiped off the knife and his gloved right hand which had been holding it; then he put the handkerchief away. The hunt was almost over.'' ( Neil Gaiman, The Graveyard Book)
What a truly sinister, insinuating opening! This writing has a disturbingly comic 'pulse' to it and this pulse carries us, however reluctantly, along the corridors and rooms of this house, with Jack, the cruelly efficient( so he thinks) killer of a family we are only introduced to when dead. There is a terrible exuberance to this opening and all the students I have read this text with, have immediately bought the novel and loved it!

Award Winning Books and Their Popularity

Each and every one of us are familiar with the words 'Award Winning' and 'Best Seller' with regards to books, whether we are fond of reading book or not. The Awards Winning Books is a highly popular category amongst readers today, and almost all the smart online book stores have a separate section for the same. There are websites, newspapers, magazines and even some bookstore chains that release a list of such book after regular intervals and needless to say, the books that feature in those lists become even more popular. The entire category of Award winning books is very rich though, as this is a collection of books that have won various prestigious awards like the Booker Prize and the Pulitzer. These awards are declared every year by a competent and accomplished jury. Once the awards are announced, these books generally see a huge surge in their sales. The reasons for such consumer-behavior can be many, including curiosity in readers about the books that has bagged an award. Readers then want to read these books.

Give a Little - Book Review

This 310 page saga is Scott Underhill's second superbly written novel. I have had the pleasure of reviewing both of his books - and they are equally outstanding, yet profoundly different pieces of fiction.
Give a Little certainly provokes empathy for each of its characters. It is an emotional roller-coaster ride for the reader, while the family members in the book heal old wounds and the father battles alcoholism.
When the back cover states "Come meet Jaden and Simmeon Randel, two brothers you won't forget" - they were not exaggerating. These two identical and opposing twins are the main characters in this novel.

Use Books the Right Way

Books can be entertaining, fun or challenging. But the best thing about books, is that we can learn a lot from them, so we don't have to make the same mistakes others have done before us.

Buy the book the 4 Hour Body to learn how to lose weight or gain muscle very fast. Like to quit your job and go traveling? Read the book Vagabonding: An uncommon guide to the art of long term world travel by Rolf Potts.
